According to reports from persecution watchdog groups, over 300 Christians in the war-torn African nation Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been killed since Christmas 2024 by rebels with ties to the Islamic State. That number includes a group of 70 Christians—men, women, and children—who were recently beheaded in a village church.
It’s a reminder to pray for Christians who are weary of the constant violence and are heartbroken over the loss of life and property.
It’s horrifying to think about our brothers and sisters in Christ being kidnapped and then brutally killed at the hands of Islamic rebels. And it’s a reminder to pray for Christians who are weary of the constant violence and are heartbroken over the loss of life and property. One church elder shared, “We don’t know what to do or how to pray; we’ve had enough of massacres. . . May God’s will alone be done.”
Here in the West, we see some Christians experiencing discrimination, prejudice, and even persecution for their faith, and we all know that religious freedom has been decreasing over the last few years, but it’s easy for us to forget that Christians in other places lose their lives for being followers of Christ. These headlines should serve as a reminder to pray for them that:
It’s also a reminder for us to pray for Muslims, whether those terrorizing the church in DRC or those peacefully living in our own neighborhoods. These people—eternal souls, made in God’s image—are headed for a Christless eternity. They need Jesus! This month is Ramadan; let’s use that as a reminder to pray for the millions of lost Muslims around the world.
Here at AiG, we’re doing everything we can to reach those from every nation, tribe, people, and language with the gospel message. That’s why we have a growing translation ministry (even utilizing AI to help auto-translate videos into any language!); offices in the UK, Australia, Canada, and Latin America; and events like Día Latino and Deaf Days here at the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. We want everyone to encounter the message of the gospel.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
