AiG Resources Used to Reach Ukrainian Refugees

This letter came from a woman who is part of a Ukrainian church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She writes,

I just wanted to thank you again for the AiG VBS program [Answers VBS]. It has been such a blessing to our church over the years. This year, we had the privilege of translating the Jungle Journey [our 2024 VBS] program into Ukrainian and using it to reach out to Ukrainian refugees here in Philadelphia. We had a wonderful turnout with Ukrainian refugee children who had never heard the true gospel before—praise God!

Additionally, we had an amazing opportunity to take the translated VBS curriculum to Italy, where we ran two VBS programs for Ukrainian refugee children living in government-funded apartments. The first VBS was in Naples, and the second one was in Piombino. Most of the children were not Christian and were initially hesitant to come. However, once they saw the crafts, science experiments, games, songs, and the poster that went along with the lesson plans (also translated), they began attending every day.

Another great opportunity we had was in Stockholm, Sweden, where we ran a Teen Bible School Camp for Ukrainian refugee teens (ages 14–16). We used the Teen Guide during our group discussions, which provided the framework for our program. We had 46 teens attend, and 95% of them had never even heard of Noah’s Flood, the biblical account of creation, the Tower of Babel, or the gospel. It was a very unique experience. We were able to use your program as a framework to deconstruct the secular worldview they had grown up with and teach them the biblical view. Since they had escaped the war, these teens were in desperate need of hope and love. We were able to show them how much we loved and cared for them by flying overseas to share the gospel and the love of Christ with them. By the end of the week, many of these teens believed and repented—glory to Christ alone!

I truly believe that God works all things together for good. The war happening in Ukraine is not good, but since many Ukrainians have been scattered around the world, former refugees (like my mom) who escaped religious persecution 30 years ago from the USSR have raised a generation of Ukrainian-American young adults who are now going around the world, preaching the gospel to Ukrainians in their own language. I see God’s good providential plan in all of this.

Once again, I want to thank you and your team for working hard each year to provide a program that is centered on the gospel and includes apologetics in every lesson. Children here in the U.S. and around the world are being bombarded with lies, and these programs have been an invaluable tool to combat those lies with truth. Also, I want to personally thank you for everything you do in your AiG ministry. I have watched all your teaching videos on YouTube, debates, used the ABC Sunday school curriculum and they have all been such a blessing to me in personal walk in Christ. Thank you for your faithfulness to the word of God and in the true gospel.
