Well, it happens. We all get older, and there comes that time when we have to make changes in our lives. Last week our Answers in Genesis staff gathered at staff meeting where we announced the retirement of our librarian, Walt Stumper (although no one truly retires from Answers in Genesis!). Walt served at AiG for 24 years and will still come into the office on certain days to use his talents for the ministry.
Walt and his wife, Janice, met a long line of staff who came to congratulate him on his 24 years of service and his retirement. They also came to partake of the delicious pastries we ordered for this event.
I first met Walt in 1984 when I was on a speaking tour from Australia and spoke at a church in St. Louis. Not only was Walt at that event but so was his close friend Dr. David Menton (who became one of our beloved speakers and researchers at AiG). Walt came to AiG to work in the outreach department and then moved to build up and look after our library full-time. In the photos below, you can see a younger Walt, Dr. Menton, and myself.
Walt helped AiG build up a tremendous research library, which has a number of very valuable collections. He also helped our Answers Academy librarian build up a wonderful library for our Christian school.

Once we move our offices into our new HQ building (hopefully by January 2025), we will have room to greatly expand the library as many books are in storage right now because of a lack of space. AiG staff have access to our library, which is a tremendous asset for them and the ministry. Our new full-time librarian the Lord provided will begin in September.
God’s richest blessings to you, Walt, and to Janice, as you (sort of) retire.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
