Have you ever seen the world’s largest tarantula face-to-face? Or met the world’s most poisonous frog? Or held one of the world’s largest cockroaches? Well, now you can during the brand-new creepy crawly encounters at the Ark Encounter’s Ararat Ridge Zoo.
This summer, our Ararat Ridge Zoo programs staff at the Ark will pop up at random times with an interactive area for kids to use their senses to learn more about God’s design in creeping things. Here’s how they describe this fun program:
Dig for wriggling worms in a bowl of dirt, hold a real live cockroach, or pet a beautiful leaf insect. Come face-to-face with Fluffy the bird-eating tarantula, marvel at Jael the glowing scorpion, and examine our fruit flies through compound fly-eye glasses. Listen to our hissing cockroaches as they hiss or our golden poison dart frogs as they sing! Use your wits to match the predators with their prey and answer the trivia questions on the table.
When you’re done, be sure to stick around and watch one of our amazing live animal programs at the Animal Actors Stage!
Our staff always thinks of creative ways to engage our guests with fun, educational content, and biblical truth—guests of all ages love it!

Another example of a program our staff has designed to teach young people biblical truth is our high school labs. These labs—whether through the year or one-week intensives in the summer—allow young people to do lab studies from the lens of a biblical worldview.
Just a few weeks ago, the Ark Encounter hosted our anatomy and physiology lab intensive in our state-of-the-art Answers Center laboratory. During the week of labs, students learned about the various body systems, such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. They ran EKG tests, checked blood pressure, dissected a sheep’s heart to see its inner workings, and even created their own lab-made “poop.”
If you have a high school student who would benefit from hands-on science labs through the lens of God’s Word, I encourage you to consider our through-the-year lab programs at the Creation Museum or our one-week intensives next summer at the Ark Encounter. We’re offering:
You can learn more and register today on our Creation Museum website.
Of course, these two programs represent only a fraction of everything we offer at the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum—it’s truly thrilling how many people with different giftings the Lord has brought together to ensure our thousands of guests have a wonderful time and learn about the truth of God’s Word and the gospel message.
For example, consider another special offering for our Ark Encounter and Creation Museum guests: our upcoming 40 Days and 40 Nights of Christian Music event, August 1–September 9. This event is the world’s largest Christian music festival, featuring 120 concerts from over 150 different artists with a variety of musical styles. If you love music, I encourage you to check out the schedule and make plans to attend—all daily concerts are included with your Ark Encounter or Creation Museum admission.
Yes, there’s so much happening each day! Praise the Lord for how he’s using these programs to equip and encourage the church, challenge unbelievers, and present the gospel message.
Plan your visit at ArkEncounter.com and CreationMuseum.org.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
