What’s Happening at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum Sunday–Tuesday This Winter?

What happens at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum attractions while we’re closed every Sunday–Tuesday during the winter? Well, on Mondays and Tuesdays our staff members are hard at work upgrading exhibits, completing maintenance, and making repairs from all the wear and tear we receive from the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year.

  • Exhibit cleaners fixing Eve's hair
  • Artist painting some Ark planks at the Creation Museum
  • Airbrushing the ceiling of the Biblical Authority room at the Creation Museum
  • Maintenance in Legacy Lobby at the Creation Museum
  • Dusting walls at the Creation Museum
  • IT troubleshooting devices in the Main Hall at the Creation Museum

In the following photos, staff are installing extra lighting in the stunning Fearfully & Wonderfully Made exhibit, adding some digital signage, and upgrading wiring.

We want our attractions to be at their best for all the guests who will be visiting this coming year!

But there’s even more happening during our closed days. A few weeks ago, law enforcement personnel from many other states (and other countries), along with our own public safety team, have been conducting K9 training exercises.

We’re also using these closed days to film a variety of new videos for our YouTube channel (we post new videos every week, and they’re making a big impact!) and for our 2024 calendar. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to enjoy these new videos and stay tuned for the announcement about our powerful, unique 2024 calendar theme (you’re going to love it!). I guarantee there will be no calendar like it.

As you can see, we’re very busy the first two days of every work week with exciting projects, upgrades, and more!

Of course, we’re still open throughout the winter, just with reduced days and hours, and we still receive many guests each week. For example, it was a thrill to meet Ryan Rought, the director of a ministry called TACTICA that ministers to police officers in Latin America. He brought two police officers from San José, Costa Rica, with him to the Ark. These officers gave me their salvation testimonies and told me how emotional it was for them to see the Ark Encounter and also visit the Creation Museum. I encourage you to pray for the ministry of TACTICA.
