For the past few weeks, we’ve been in full Christmas mode here at the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter as we celebrate the Savior’s birth with a live nativity, a nightly family Christmas concert, a sea of lights, and more (and there’s still a few more nights left of our Christmas programs!). As always, ChristmasTown and ChristmasTime have been so much fun for everyone, but more than that, thousands of guests have heard the gospel and been given time to stop and reflect on Christ and why he came to this earth as the God-man.
We trust that you and your family have taken time this busy season to do just that. Whether it’s at our Christmas events, your church, or your home, I hope you’ve taken time with your children or grandchildren to reflect on the babe in the manger—the Creator of the universe, the Giver of life, the great I Am, the everlasting King, lying as a precious baby in a bed of straw. Celebrating that truth will never get old!
As the prophet Isaiah, writing 700 years before the birth of Christ, said,
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone. . . .For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:2, 6–7)
No matter what your Christmas celebration looks like this year, may the truth that the Mighty God became our Immanuel encourage you and keep you focused on who we should look to every day of the year—Jesus Christ our Lord.
Merry Christmas from Answers in Genesis, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
