Each year, the talented staff at our K–12 Christian school, Answers Academy, write an original, unique Christmas drama for the students to perform in the Answers Center at the Ark Encounter. It’s always such a unique, fun, and biblically rich program! This year, the students of Answers Academy—with special guests TrueSong, our Ark Encounter resident artists—are performing Keeping Watch, and you can enjoy it live on December 9, 2022, during one of our free ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter evenings at the Answers Center.

Keeping Watch: Live Christmas Concert with Special Guest TrueSong

What is Keeping Watch? It’s a drama of the birth of Christ from the perspective of the shepherds. The administrators at Answers Academy gave us this description of their unique drama:

Over 2,000 years ago, God set a beautiful scene in motion that changed the entire world. We know the players well—Mary, Joseph, the Baby, the angels, and the shepherds. We have to wonder and ask the question, “Why the shepherds?” Why did God choose random men in the middle of a field to share in one of the most important events in history? Who were these men, and what role did God give them? Join us as we dive into their account of the event that saved the world and gave redemption to the lost.

For 400 years, prophets were silent. Can you imagine the surprise the shepherds received one evening when an angel announced the birth of a very special baby? Keeping Watch will unfold the true meaning of Christmas through the eyes of an ordinary shepherd who struggled to find his purpose in life. Through song and drama, this program connects the babe in a manger to the reason why Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, was sent as the final sacrifice to make salvation possible.

Come enjoy this drama one night only, along with a dazzling sea of lights, the life-size Noah’s Ark lit up in rainbow colors, and so much more—it’s a wonderful family-friendly event.

This program is an exciting addition to one evening of our spectacular ChristmasTime event. Come enjoy this drama one night only, along with a dazzling sea of lights, the life-size Noah’s Ark lit up in rainbow colors, and so much more—it’s a wonderful family-friendly event. And it’s free! (Mention that you are visiting to enjoy Keeping Watch, and parking is even free!)

Next year, the Keeping Watch script will be available for churches, Christian schools, and homeschools so they can put on this gospel-centered program. Or they can enjoy our previous two programs, A Pondering Heart and Long Foretold.

The Wonder and the Miracle

You can also join us the following evening (December 10) for The Wonder and the Miracle, a Christmas drama from God’s Bible School & College and Aldersgate Christian Academy. Featuring a choir and live orchestra, this play is a personal invitation to encounter the incarnate Christ! Here’s how the groups describe this program:

The Christmas story is the story of a miracle—the God of the universe coming to be one of us, coming to save and transform us. It’s a story we’re all familiar with—but what if we weren’t?

In The Wonder and the Miracle, we meet a young woman named Alice. She’s studying philosophy at an American university in the 1890s—a time when rational optimism was running high—and her research only leads her to have more questions than answers. We follow her as she encounters the Christmas story in a unique way, discovering that the beauty of the incarnation is not just a miracle for the whole world, but that it is a miracle that is offered to her, to you, and to me.

The Wonder and the Miracle

I encourage you to make plans to attend both programs (The Wonder and the Miracle is also free with free parking when you let our staff know that you came for the program) and then come another evening to enjoy more of ChristmasTime. South of Cincinnati.

Celebrate Christmas with Us!

And don’t miss ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum, featuring a beautiful garden of lights (the best in the area!), dinosaurs lit up in Christmas lights, a live nativity, and more. This event is also free (you just pay for parking). The museum is located west of the Cincinnati Airport.

Both ChristmasTime and ChristmasTown are running from November 25–December 30, on select evenings.

Come and celebrate Christ’s incarnation with us!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
