Join Us in Praying on the National Day of Prayer 2022

Here are a few items to consider praying for today as you join with tens of thousands of other Americans in prayer for America today:

• Pray for President Joe Biden and his administration: that they would make wise decisions and humbly serve the American people.
• Pray for the American church: that we would be bold for truth, no matter the religious persecution looming on the horizon.
• Pray for school children across the nation: they are being indoctrinated with evolution, critical race theory, and LGBTQ perversions.
• Pray for freedom here in this nation: that God would preserve it and allow Christians to continue to freely share the gospel. But also pray that even if he does not preserve our freedoms, he would give us increased opportunities to stand boldly for him as lights in this dark world.
• Pray for unity in a nation that is divided: and becoming increasingly more divided by the teaching of things such as critical race theory that pit people against one another. Pray that people would recognize the sin that fractures our society and the only solution—the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We at Answers in Genesis will be praying throughout the day today. Join with us and so many other Americans in lifting this nation, the church, and our leaders up before the Lord.

National Day of Reason?

Now, many may not be aware that the first Thursday of May is also the National Day of Reason. This national day was conceived in order to “provide a positive, useful, constitutional alternative to the exclusionary National Day of Prayer” according to the American Humanist Association. Obviously, the National Day of Prayer is upsetting to them, and they list in detail why Christianity threatens them on their Day of Reason page.

I’ll only include a few of their bullet points below, along with a biblical worldview “translation.” Their main contentions are as follows:

• Faith-based initiatives in federal agencies that give preferential treatment to religious organizations which proselytize and employ discriminatory hiring practices [in other words they chafe at Christian organizations being allowed to limit their hiring to Christians, which is guaranteed by the Civil Rights amendment].
• Restrictions on important scientific research on the basis of religious objections [they want to have unlimited access to fetal stem cells, despite adult stem cells being proven more effective and do not require the taking of a human life].
• Attempts to introduce biblical creationism and its alter-ego “Intelligent Design” into our public school science curricula [that has never been a stated goal of Answers in Genesis and in reality would be counterproductive (see “Should Creation Be Taught in Public Schools?” for more information)].
• The appointment of judges who willingly place their religious beliefs above our laws [the laws of the US were founded on the fact that individuals are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness].
• Religiously motivated restrictions on access to reproductive services and information [in other words, they want abortion (child-murder) on-demand in the womb and increasingly are pushing even for post-birth abortions].

It’s a very troubling list (to mainly attack Christianity), and I couldn’t advocate any more strongly for increased prayer in combatting this sort of mindset. Not just to pray against those (anti-Christian) items, but to pray that the Lord would open eyes to see the destructive culture of death they promote and that they and those they influence would instead turn their hearts to him.
