Abortion the World’s Leading Cause of Death . . . Again

What was the leading cause of death worldwide in 2021? Well, the same as it was in 2020. Of course, ultimately it’s because of sin! But what’s the leading cause of death from a number’s perspective in today’s world? It was an utterly unnatural cause of death that only affects the most vulnerable. What was it? Abortion. That’s right, abortion was yet again the leading cause of death both globally and here in the United States last year.

According to The Christian Post, 42.6 million unborn children lost their lives to abortion in 2021 alone. Combined with other deaths, 100 million people died last year—nearly half dying because they were murdered in their mother’s wombs. How does this number of deaths compare to the other leading causes of death?

By contrast, only 13 million people perished of communicable diseases, the second-leading cause of death last year. The other leading causes of death paled in comparison to abortion, with 8.2 million people dying of cancer worldwide, nearly 5 million deaths caused by smoking, approximately 2.5 million alcohol-related deaths, nearly 1.7 million people succumbing to HIV/AIDS, more than 1.3 million people dying in traffic accidents, and nearly 1.1 million suicides worldwide.

Our culture, here in the United States and in many other nations around the world, continues to be a culture of death. How can we combat the prevailing belief that unborn lives have no rights and can be disposed of at the whim of the mother or someone else? By sharing biblical truth and the gospel message with everyone!

Our culture, both here in the United States and in many other nations around the world, continues to be a culture of death.

That’s why I’m so excited about our 2022 Answers Vacation Bible School, Zoomerang: Returning to the Value of Life. This sanctity of life VBS teaches children (and teens and adults who volunteer!) the value of every human life, from the tiniest unborn person to the oldest person. They’ll discover that life is precious—so precious that Christ came and died that we might be forgiven and have eternal life.

VBS is more than just a week of fun for kids (although it is fun!). It’s an opportunity for the church to disciple children in God’s Word, teaching them “meaty” truths from God’s Word, giving them answers to the questions of our day, and presenting the life-saving gospel message to them. It’s a vital outreach in our communities!

Some of the unique features of Answers VBS include the very timely themes that grapple with the real issues of our day (in a child-friendly way, of course!), science experiments to emphasize that God’s Word can be trusted—and Christians love science (children really enjoy this portion of the program)—and teen and adult guides, so volunteers and even children’s families, can discover the truths that the children are learning but at even more depth. We want everyone to hear of the truth of God’s Word and the gospel message!

As you can see, there’s nothing “fluffy” about an Answers VBS program!

We also offer Answers VBS Digital Pro, a virtual VBS assistant available on any internet-connected device. Directors love the ease this feature gives them in planning and coordinating VBS week, including name tag printing, class registration, rotations, scheduling, and more. One VBS director recently shared,

VBS Digital Pro has been the most valuable tool for me as a Director. I am able to keep track of all the families and volunteers that register, customize the forms to fit our VBS week, export data to follow up with the families and have access to all the files before it's available to print. I am able to get a head start on the planning thanks to the Digital Pro. It is the first VBS item we purchase every year!

I encourage you to consider hosting Zoomerang VBS at your church this year. You will love the in-depth biblical content and the timeliness of the life-saving theme presented with an evangelistic gospel emphasis. Learn more at AnswersVBS.com.

I believe AiG’s VBS outreaches are the most powerful programs available.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
