It’s hard to believe it’s only one month until our annual Christmas programs begin again—and we can’t wait! Our grounds crews have been hard at work, transforming the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter grounds into twinkling winter wonderlands. And you don’t want to miss out on this incredible time of celebrating the Lord Jesus.
Both ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter and ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum are free family events (you only pay for parking) that draw thousands of families from the local area and out-of-state each year. We always offer something new, so families (many of whom are not believers) come back again and again as a family tradition. And it’s all beginning the day after Thanksgiving, November 26, 2021, and running select dates through December 30. The free entry for our Christmas events is from 5 p.m.–8:30 p.m. on designated days (see calendars below).
Both attractions offer different experiences, so you will want to be sure to visit both over the Christmas season. When you come for ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter, you’ll enjoy the grounds and Ararat Ridge Zoo lit up in a spectacular light display—including the 510-foot-long Ark itself in changing rainbow colors!
Then head inside the 2,500-seat Answers Center for traditional Christmas carols and a special program featuring the Ark’s resident artists Southern Salvation and kids from Twelve Stones Christian Academy, live animal presentations, and the spectacular Encounter the Wonder Christmas video on the huge, 70-foot-wide LED screen. And this is all free! You only pay for parking. Oh, and don’t forget that camel rides at the Ark, great food at Emzara’s Buffet, and hundreds of gifts (including many fair trade options) in our massive gift store under the Ark are available for purchase too.
ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum is a totally different experience. You’ll tour a spectacular garden of lights that just gets better every year. Again, it’s free—you only pay for parking. Enjoy bridges, waterfalls, a boardwalk, and more, all lit up in celebration of the Savior’s birth (and see how many dinosaurs you can spot while you stroll the gardens!). Then head to Eden Zoo to say hi to our alpacas, goats, wallaby, pigs, chickens, and more. You’ll also “meet” Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus at our live nativity Thursday–Sunday nights (I love hearing parents discussing the true meaning of Christmas as a family as they reflect together at the live nativity).
Our state-of-the-art playground will be open for kids to run around and play, and you can purchase a ticket to zip over the lake or take a spin on our Glice® (synthetic ice) rink. And, if you get chilly, warm up inside with a festive meal, shopping, and our The Christmas Star 4K planetarium show (ticket purchase required).
Now this year, we will be closing the exhibits inside the Ark and Creation Museum at the normal closing time of 6 p.m.—but everything else remains open for the free Christmas events until 8:30 p.m.
There’s so much for the whole family during ChristmasTime and ChristmasTown. Don’t miss these wonderful Christmas events. Don’t forget—both events are free—you just pay for parking. Find all the details at ArkEncounter.com/Christmas and CreationMuseum.org/Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
