Is a Mass Grave in Peru the Largest Mass Child Sacrifice in History?

People reading this story are understandably horrified—who would allow a priest to gruesomely kill children? And what kind of people group would kill over 140 children at one time? This is evil and appalling. But it’s no different from what happens every day in nations all around the world, including right here in the United States.

These children were sacrificed—murdered—to appease the gods these people worshipped. Children today are being slaughtered by abortionists to appease a different god—the god of self. Abortion is the murder of an unborn child. There’s no difference between killing a five-year-old to appease a false god and killing an unborn child for the sake of convenience. The result is the same—an adult murders a child for selfish reasons. Yes, abortion is child sacrifice to the god of self!

This heinous archaeological find isn’t the greatest mass sacrifice in history. The one billion children murdered by abortion in the last 100 years around the world is the largest child sacrifice—and 60 million of those killings have taken place right here in America, with Planned Parenthood being one of the biggest baby-killing operations in the world.

We don’t have a culture that loves life.

Sadly, many mothers—64%—choose abortion because they feel pressured into it. Other people want them to sacrifice their child for reasons such as their future, career, finances, or reputation, and, sadly, many mothers succumb to the pressure, feeling they have no other choice. This is just part of our culture of death! We don’t have a culture that loves life. We have a culture that’s quick to suggest death (murder!) as a solution to a “problem” (a blessing from the Lord, actually—see Psalms 127:3).

As a culture, the US is no better than the people of Las Llamas! Instead of loving children, the nation is quick to suggest a sacrifice to the god of self as the solution. We need to encourage our culture to treat life the way God does—with such love that he was willing to step into history and die for our sins. He loves us so much that no matter what we’ve done—even murdering an unborn child—he will forgive us (1 John 1:9) and remove that sin as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12) if we will repent and trust in him. Now that is true and selfless love!
