US Supreme Court Rules Against Texas Abortion Restrictions Law

by Ken Ham

The Supreme Court of the United States has just handed down a decision regarding abortion in America. This important ruling determined whether or not the state of Texas was able to impose restrictions on abortion clinics, such as requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges (a type of formal affiliation) to hospitals. Many have noted that this important SCOTUS decision will have wide repercussions for the rest of the nation regarding access to abortion.

Abortion

The Supreme Court struck down the Texas abortion law, declaring that the regulations were “medically unnecessary and specifically intended to shut clinics.” This disappointing new ruling—one of the most important abortion-related rulings since the Supreme Court upheld a ban on partial birth abortion in 2007—“means similar laws in other states are probably unconstitutional and could put in jeopardy other types of abortion restrictions enacted in various conservative states.”

As we shared here at the Creation Museum last week during our No Choice But Pro-Life event, life begins at fertilization. Because abortion kills a human being, abortion is murder. It makes no difference if the murder scene is inside the womb or outside. Killing a human being—made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27)—is morally wrong and utterly unjustifiable. Our nation will be accountable to God for the 59,000,000 innocent babies who have been legally killed since the tragic decision of Roe v. Wade in 1973.
