President Obama—Yes, Responsible for Climate Change!

by Ken Ham on July 13, 2015

I am writing this item while we are in Sydney, Australia, for a few days. The news headlines here are all about the cold front that is bringing low temperatures and even snow to a number of places. One article states, “From this weekend to next Wednesday much of South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland and the Northern Territory will experience its coldest spell in at least two years, more than five years in some places.” In other words, such low temperatures have occurred before! One of our friends said that a Sydney taxi driver claimed that the cold was all due to global warming! Well, as many of you know, the term “global warming” is not used much now, but “climate change” instead. What I have observed is that when there are very low or rather high temperatures, or violent storms or tornadoes, I will hear politicians and others in the news blame them all on climate change.

However, in most instances, you will find that in the past there have already been such temperature variations or violent storms. For example, beginning in the medieval ages and lasting until about 1880 was a cold spell known as “The Little Ice Age” when temperatures in Europe cooled dramatically after a warming spell. This climate change started long before the Industrial Revolution (mid-1800s) that supposedly began causing modern climate change!

In the USA, Bill Nye “the Science Guy” has been on a crusade about climate change—with an agenda to blame it on humans. A number of news sources have said that Bill Nye has really become President Obama’s “climate change guy”! You can learn more about climate change on our website.

I want to point out in this blog post that President Obama is, from a human perspective, greatly responsible (along with other factors) for another kind of “climate change”—contributing to a spiritual climate change. I believe President Obama’s legacy will be one that, in many ways, is greatly responsible for aiding in the catastrophic “spiritual climate change” seen in the USA, which is also reverberating in other Western nations.

And really, dealing with “climate change” should be the priority for all Christians, i.e., in helping to change the nation’s spiritual climate, as today we see the culture becoming more anti-Christian.

As President Obama continues to abandon the absolute authority of God’s Word in regard to issues such as marriage, abortion, and so on, we are increasingly seeing a spiritual climate today as the one described in Timothy:

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Timothy 3:1–5)

We need as many people as possible to be a “climate change guy” and warn the culture about the state of the spiritual climate, and call people back to the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
