Ark Project—Behind the Scenes

by Ken Ham on January 8, 2015

There is so much activity going on with the Ark Encounter project right now in Northern Kentucky that it’s hard to keep up with it all! There are many behind-the-scenes activities going on that most people will not be aware of—and here is just one example.

This is a photograph of AiG cofounder Mike Zovath, who is the Chief Action Officer for Answers in Genesis and the Ark Encounter, approving all the design plans: architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, fire, and plumbing. This was all completed in November. The site plans were approved prior to the excavation beginning—and much of the site work has already been completed at the Williamstown site. Approving these plans means we have reviewed the whole construction plan, and it is in sync with our operations plan for exhibit installation and general Ark Encounter operation. These approved plans will generate all the rest of the required permits and enable the rest of the contracts to be let. Many of the major contracts have already been signed—and many permits are already in hand. Everything is moving ahead on schedule right now. Ark Encounter is set to open phase 1—with a life-size Ark—sometime in 2016. We will be able to give a specific timeframe down the road as we see how the construction proceeds.
