Christian Singer at the Museum

by Ken Ham

Almost every year for the past several years, the Christian music group MercyMe has been holding large outdoor concerts after Cincinnati Reds baseball games. It occurs on what’s called “Faith Day.” An estimated 15,000 people stayed after the Reds game last Sunday to hear what may be the most popular Christian music group in the country. MercyMe has won eight Dove awards and has received several Grammy nominations. Many readers are aware of the group’s best-known song “I Can Only Imagine,” which they sang Sunday evening.

Bart Millard is the lead singer and writer of many of the group’s songs. At the concert and between songs, Bart shared his testimony, including how in the past few years his songs have become more grace-based. The day after the concert he paid a visit with his family to the Creation Museum. Bart told us later that his entire family had “a blast” going through the museum, saying that he would be returning soon—he lives near Nashville, just over four hours away. He also informed us that he had watched the now-famous evolution/creation debate last February between Bill Nye “the Science Guy” and me as the group drove to a concert in St. Louis.

Here is a photo of Bart and his family in front of our green screen in the museum’s portico:
