Atheists are a small minority in this nation—less than two percent of the population—yet such secularists have been involved in removing Christian symbols from public places and getting Christ out of Christmas. In recent years they have also become very aggressive in trying to convert people to their anti-God religion—yes, it is a religion. They have faith (actually it is a blind faith as there is no evidence consistent with it) that the universe and all life can be explained by natural processes.
In essence atheists worship themselves—they are their own gods. These fallible, finite people make absolute statements about their belief in naturalism and that naturalism was the cause of the universe and life. They determine their own morality—their own supposed purpose and meaning. Atheists believe that when they die, they cease to exist! And they want to convert everyone to their religion. They want to make their own rules. And this is why they are so intolerant of Christians. Their worldview of moral relativism is in conflict with a worldview of absolutes based on the absolute authority of God’s Word. I find these people become intolerant—they only tolerate beliefs they have decided to have.
On the Fox News channel on the program Fox and Friends yesterday at 7:15 AM ET, I was interviewed about AiG’s Times Square billboard campaign in New York City that engages the atheists. The program enabled me to stand up to the atheists and proclaim the truth of God’s Word and the gospel. I have seen a number of atheist bloggers who were very upset by the three-minute interview. And yet, I saw an atheist on the Fox News Channel recently who had much more time than I did. Yes, the atheists are intolerant of people like me when we publicly oppose them. They want to get their own way. They don’t want Christians to have freedom of religion—they want freedom from Christianity.
You can watch the Fox News interview segment on Facebook at this link or see below:
After the interview, we received a lot of feedback on social media and email. Let me share with you an example from someone very opposed to what I said on TV—this person seems to be an atheist, based on the contents of this email. I will include the entire email to illustrate the emptiness of what many atheists will say about Christians who stand so publicly for the truth of God’s Word and the gospel:
I was watching Ken's screen time with Ms Hasselbeck about how atheists are forcing their religion on Christians with billboards and such. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. You just don't seem to see the irony. A non belief in the supernatural IS NOT A RELIGION,it is simply a non belief in the supernatural, and a non belief in the supernatural doesn't mean atheists don't believe in things, just that we don't believe in your gods/goddess,devils,ghosts talking snakes and all the other mumbo jumbo that you do. The trouble is you don't seem to have the capacity to comprehend that some people don't believe in your tax exempt mythology and that your tax exempt mythology has so little to offer that anybody that has the audacity to actually question any of it is automatically considered an enemy.Actual critical thinking is allowed you know,it is really good for you,try it, you might like it. I suppose that is to be expected from a mythology that is fundamentally repressive and socially destructive.
Now, doesn’t that convince you to be an atheist? These people are so blinded, so lost, and so in need of salvation. We need to pray for them, “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:4).
For your encouragement, here are some very positive comments from Facebook that we received about the TV interview:
From the AiG Facebook page:
My question is why are atheists feeling threatened by something they believe doesn't exist ...?
– M.M.
Way to go Ken Ham for having the courage to stand up for what's true.
– K.P.
Thank you for having Ken on this morning. I wish FOX would make him a regular. He has much better answers than most of your "religious" commentators.
– D.K.
Ken, I set my alarm clock early (mountain time) so I could watch and pray for you as you were a guest on Fox and Friends. You did excellent!!! The gospel message was clearly put out there for everyone to hear and I believe you stated exactly what needed to be said in regards to atheists. GREAT JOB, Sir! May God continue to bless you and AIG, and especially the Ark Encounter. A dream of mine is to come to Kentucky and see your museum.
– J.B.
Thank you AIG for your continued commitment to the Truth!
– B.C.
From my personal Facebook page:
It was wonderful how you used His full name "The Lord Jesus Christ", how you recited a well-known scripture (John 3:16), how you were so calm yet speedy in explaining yourself, and how kind you came across (not condescending at all) to atheists. I was so glad I got to see you; it was like seeing a friend on one of my favorite TV shows!
– S.H.
Ken, you did a GREAT job!! Maybe the fact that the old billboard was shown while you talked about the current one will make people check out AiG to find out about it!
– L.G.
I love these billboards! I hope that they also challenge Christians. Keep the CHRIST in CHRISTians...We need to be Christ-centered in our own lives before we demand that the culture becomes Christ-centered. The hope for our nation is deeply committed followers of Christ who live out His message of truth and grace every day.
– D.B.
Awesome job Ken! You packed in more in one minute than most pulpits do in a month. Christians should start playing more offence. Praise be to God for how He is using AIG.
– B.O.
I truly believe Christians in this nation need to be mobilized to publicly stand up for the truth of God’s Word—to stand uncompromisingly, boldly, and unashamedly.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
