We are excited to announce that ASL interpretation for the contemporary music videos is once again available for this year’s Emerald Crossing VBS from Answers in Genesis. This feature, now in its second year, is part of an ongoing commitment to provide greater accessibility for Deaf children and families in churches across the US!

The ASL-interpreted videos are included in the Emerald Crossing Music Download Bundle and allow Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants to fully engage with the vibrant worship experience.

Why ASL Interpretation Is Vital in VBS

For many Deaf individuals, ASL is not just a preferred language—it’s their primary means of communication.

For many Deaf individuals, ASL is not just a preferred language—it’s their primary means of communication. When church resources are offered only in spoken or written English, Deaf children are often unintentionally excluded from experiences such as vacation Bible school.

By providing ASL interpretation for the music videos, Emerald Crossing opens the door for accessible worship, allowing Deaf participants to understand and internalize the biblical messages within the music. This strengthens not only comprehension but also spiritual growth and engagement.

Equipping Deaf Churches and Churches Serving Deaf Families

This feature is particularly valuable for Deaf churches, which often lack access to high-quality children’s ministry resources in ASL. With the availability of ASL-interpreted music, these churches now have a ready-made, accessible VBS tool to use in their summer programming.

At the same time, hearing churches that serve Deaf families or are looking to begin outreach to the Deaf community can now offer a more accessible and welcoming environment.

For churches looking to provide ASL interpreters throughout their entire VBS program, Sonshine Interpreting is a great resource. Churches can reach out and request an interpreter and know that they are hiring a qualified, Christian interpreter. Answers in Genesis has been blessed to partner with Sonshine in our accessibility efforts.

As your church prepares for Emerald Crossing, we encourage you to explore how these ASL-interpreted music videos can make a difference in your ministry. Whether you’re part of a Deaf congregation or a hearing church with a heart to serve Deaf families, this resource is designed to equip you in creating a VBS experience where every child has full access to the gospel.
