Though religion across the West has trended downward in recent decades, young evangelicals across Europe seem to be seeking Christ, returning to church, and spreading the gospel. The movement was prompted in part by secular thought leaders like Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan, and Tom Holland, who though not Christians themselves have extolled the virtues of biblical principles and reconsidered the value of Christianity.
Young millennial and Gen Z seekers crave the meaning that Christianity offers in contrast to the empty individualism proffered by the West. They want answers to life’s biggest questions: Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? The Bible has these answers, and the church proclaims them.
This is a hopeful but precarious moment. Gunnar Mägi, the president of Tyndale Theological Seminary in the Netherlands, summarized the spiritual condition of youth across Europe: “It’s pre-revival.”
By God’s grace, we must pray this pre-revival generation will turn to Christ. May we continue the missional work of the gospel to make disciples of every nation (Luke 10:2; Matthew 28:19–20).
In a May 2025 podcast, former First Lady Michelle Obama asserted that creating life is “the least” of a woman’s reproductive system’s functions.
When God created male and female, he told them to multiply. Indeed, one of the prime purposes of human existence is the creation of life in the context of a biblically defined family.
Obama’s statement is not entirely wrong. God has intricately designed all female body systems to work together for the health of the whole body. The reproductive system is a significant part of female health, aside from reproduction. Female reproductive organs produce hormones like estrogen and progesterone that promote calcium absorption, cardiovascular health, and cognition. Without a functioning reproductive system, a woman’s mental and physical health risk serious decline.
Yet none of these functions make procreation secondary or “least important.” The ability to conceive and carry life is a profound gift from God—one that extends beyond personal legacy to the very heart of redemptive history. It was through a woman’s womb that Jesus entered our world—the Savior of the world taking on human life to offer us eternal life.
“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan” (Proverbs 29:2). While it’s easy to dwell on the widespread sinfulness reigning in the world, we must also recognize and rejoice when laws and leaders align with Scripture, bringing life and peace to our nation.
Forensics labs are accessing expanding DNA databases to help investigators solve 20-year-old murders of infants found dead in fields, dumpsters, and other tragic scenes. So far, they’ve brought over 40 women to justice. Yet the rejoicing has not been unanimous.
Many husbands lament that they’re losing their wives to prison for a crime committed long before they married and started families. Many women feel the weight of culture’s double standard: an abortion clinic could have serviced their babies’ deaths without penalty. Some, after being approached by investigators, took their own lives, indicating a life of guilt, shame, and fear.
Easy access to abortion has blurred understandings of justice, but the law written on our hearts remains (Romans 2:15). Murder of any human, including the unborn, violates God’s commands and protections for the dignity of life. Though sinful humans must sometimes suffer consequences for their sin, God offers forgiveness through Jesus’ atoning work on the cross.
War in Ukraine, conflict in the Middle East, and the slaughtering of Christians in Africa leave us desperate for peace. Jesus promised, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). In troubling times, we can remember that the One who has overcome the world is working in the world today and will one day make all things right.
When invasive species clash with native ecosystems, biologists face tangled questions about biblical dominion.
