Details

Can any scientist with a Ph.D. believe in the idea of a literal six-day creation? In Six Days answers this provocative question with 50 informative essays by scientists who say “Yes!” Taking a factual and scientific look at the evidence for evolution, physicists, biologists, and chemists conclude that evolution may offer no more evidence than traditional religion, and factually, it may lag behind.

Important questions about the big bang theory, radioactive dating of rocks, light from distant stars, and the fossil evidence for evolution are discussed in detail. Reopening the origins debate with straightforward and wide-ranging analysis of the issues confronting both the scientific community and the general public, these essays examine the entire approach to science education and are essential reading for educators, politicians, parents, and students.

Reasons we sell this publication:

This is a series of 50 articles by 50 different Ph.D. scientists who are Christians, explaining why they believe in biblical creation and reject particles-to-people evolution. They cover a wide range of fields, including the amazing design in nature, information, the laws of thermodynamics, evidence for a “young” earth and against old-earth radiometric “dating,” the fossil record, the meaning of Genesis, and why Genesis should be believed. Overall, it should be very encouraging for Christians to realize that there are many highly qualified creationist scientists refuting the atheistic charge that all scientists believe in evolution and providing good reasons to believe the Bible. It should make a good companion to Ann Lamont’s book 21 Great Scientists Who Believe the Bible, which covers the creationist founders of modern science, while Dr Ashton’s book covers present-day scientists.

Problems to be aware of:

Since this book was not produced by Answers in Genesis, a few of the articles say some things we would disagree with on biblical or scientific grounds. For example, one scientist promotes the moon dust argument, discredited in Moon Dust and the Age of the Solar System, TJ 7(1):2–42, 1993, and another cites the unscriptural big bang approvingly because it supports a beginning for the universe, as well being rather lukewarm about a young earth. But most of the articles are scientifically sound, presenting much evidence that would be new to most creationists, and are faithful to Scripture. Therefore, AiG believes it is justified in promoting this book, especially to late-high-school and university students and those who work with them.
