On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution allowed for abortion prior to fetal viability, meaning that state laws which banned abortion before that point were unenforceable. In response, many churches celebrate a “sanctity of life” Sunday in January. Forty-nine years later, in 2022, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overruled Roe v. Wade and returned the issue to each state.
The overturn of Roe has been rightly celebrated as a great victory for the pro-life cause—but it’s not a ban on abortion. Pro-life laws can now be enforced at the state level, and it has encouraged laws that protect life in the womb. However, the fight is far from over! The overturn of Roe has also inspired pro-abortion activism and passing of state laws that enshrine abortion throughout pregnancy. Yes, you heard that right—some states have laws which guarantee the right to kill a baby made in the image of God, at any point during the pregnancy!
The fight to protect unborn life starts at home with your own family.
The fight to protect unborn life starts at home with your own family. No Christian parent would like to think that their daughter will someday have an abortion or that their son will enable one, but the statistics are sobering. Around 70% of women who have abortions identify as Christian, according to one survey. Teach your children that life, from fertilization to natural death, is infinitely valuable (a human being made in God’s image) as part of a Christian worldview!
Our wonderful world-class exhibit at the Creation Museum, Fearfully & Wonderfully Made, walks our visitors through the stages of development in the womb and teaches about the value of preborn human life with world-class models. It also powerfully shares the gospel with those who have committed the sin of abortion, pointing guests to the hope and forgiveness that can only be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This valuable material is also in the book Fearfully & Wonderfully Made.
Let’s commit to pray more diligently for the end of abortion in our nation! The sanctity of all human life needs to be protected from womb to old age.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
