Many labs can make petrified wood using a certain mix of chemicals. With the right formulas, scientists can petrify wood quickly—and they’ve been doing it for decades!

And the chemicals needed for this process can be found near volcanoes and in sediment. It’s likely that petrification in a very short time occurs in these places, too.

Petrified wood doesn’t prove millions of years. It can form quickly, which is what we’d expect starting with the Bible’s history of a young earth.
