If you put dirt in a jar of water and shake it up, you’ll notice the large particles, like sand, settle first. It’s followed by the smaller ones, and finally the mud particles.

These mud particles are often flat and thin, so they take the longest to settle. Now, around the world there are mudrock layers hundreds of feet thick now, shouldn’t it take millions of years for these layers to form?

That was what geologists thought until experiments showed that in rapidly moving water, mudrock forms in just minutes!

Mudrocks, like most of earth’s rocks, were formed during the year-long global flood. That’s when a lot of rapidly flowing water covered the whole globe.
