This week we’re looking at objections to the prolife view. Now, one you’ll hear a lot is “but what about rape?” Surely a woman should have an abortion if the child was conceived in such a horrible way?

Of course, such circumstances are truly horrible! And rape is often . . . though not always . . . punished severely in our culture. But not with the death penalty. And yet people argue that the baby should receive the death penalty for his or her father’s crimes! That means the innocent baby is punished more severely than the actual criminal!

A child’s value isn’t determined by the circumstances surrounding conception. That person has value simply because they’re made in God’s image.
