Today people are very concerned about offending people or making them feel bad about something. But is it okay to offend people?
Well, as Christians, we should be careful to make sure our speech is pleasing to God. We shouldn’t say or do things that will easily offend others. But there are times when we have to.
You see, we can’t water down biblical truth to avoid offense. The message that we’re all sinners, utterly unable to save ourselves, is yes: offensive. People don’t want to hear that—but it’s the truth. And, until they come to believe it, they won’t cry out to Jesus to save them.
So, yes, sometimes we need to offend people.
