What Defines a Family?

I recently read an article about the challenges of “polyamorous parenting.” Now the “families” interviewed were married couples with a so-called committed third “partner” . . . and one or two children. The author of the article was clearly sympathetic towards the challenges these “families” face . . . including the stigma attached to their relationships.

When we read things like this, we need to stop and ask: “who defines a family?” Those people clearly believe they do. They think they can shape their family however they want, according to their own lusts.

But we don’t get to define the family. God did, when he brought one man and one woman together into the first family.
