This is Ken Ham, CEO of Answers in Genesis and the popular Ark Encounter.
Before the flood, people lived for hundreds of years. These long lifespans slowly tapered off after the flood. How did people live for so many years before the flood?
Well, originally, we were created to live forever! But because of sin, our bodies wear out and die. So . . . why do we die so young?
Well, it probably has to do with things like diet, environmental changes, and genetics. Think about genetics—the global flood reduced the population to just eight people. That’s a huge genetic bottleneck! Perhaps mutated genes, giving a shorter lifespan, were the only ones that survived in Noah’s family.
Therefore, they were passed on to their descendants, like us!
