Transcript

For the last two weeks, we’ve been looking at lessons from Mount St. Helens, the volcano in Washington state that erupted forty years ago. Why was this event so important?

Well, for two reasons.

One, it challenged the assumptions of many geologists. They assumed it takes millions of years to form geological features—slowly and gradually. But Mount St. Helens blew up that notion!

And two, it taught us a lot about catastrophes … and what Noah’s flood and its aftermath did to the world. It showed catastrophes have the power to shape environments … and rapidly form features.

Ultimately, it confirmed what we’d expect, starting with God’s Word.
