This year marks forty years since the famous Mount St. Helens catastrophe. This mountain was once a cone-shaped volcano—well, that is until the equivalent of twenty megatons of TNT blew a side of the mountain away.

In just hours, the volcano and landscape were devastated. It didn’t look at all like the same place! But forty years later, the area has recovered and once again is a beautiful wilderness. But it serves as a reminder of how much damage even a relatively small catastrophe can do.

You see, compared to eruptions in the past, it was just a small one! But during Noah’s flood, there were massive eruptions that shaped today’s world.
