When Is a Day a Day?

If I said to you, “Back in my father’s day, it took three days to drive across the Australian Outback during the day,” you’d know what I meant. Even though I used the word day in three different ways, the context tells you what I meant.

Now, many people say we can’t know what “day” means in Genesis 1 therefore it could be millions of years. But the context always tells us what a word means. And throughout the Old Testament, when day is used with a number or the word night … or with the phrase “evening or morning” … it means a normal day. And Genesis one has all of those!

The text couldn’t be clearer. The days in Genesis were definitely twenty-four-hour days.
