Today many people are celebrating Christmas with family … and exchanging gifts. But what are we really celebrating?
Well, the birth of Jesus, of course. But it really goes deeper than that. You see, the whole reason we needed Jesus to come as the babe in the manger is explained by the history in Genesis.
The Bible calls Jesus the Last Adam. The first Adam—the first man God created—brought death by his rebellion. His sin broke creation, and now we all sin because we sinned in Adam … and continue to sin.
But Jesus Christ is the Last Adam—he did what Adam didn’t do. He obeyed God and then died in our place, taking our penalty. Really, we’re celebrating the gospel today!
