Many Christians believe that Genesis isn’t real history … and that Adam and Eve didn’t really exist. But that’s not what the Bible teaches! Genesis is written as historical narrative, and the New Testament reaffirms that Genesis is history.
The Apostle Paul taught that because of Adam’s sin, we need a Savior, the Lord Jesus. He directly linked the first and last Adams together.
To argue that Genesis isn’t literal history is really to undermine the gospel. Now, think about it. Why did Jesus need to die? Because death is the just penalty for sin, and he took it for us. But if Genesis isn’t really history, then death isn’t the penalty for sin … and Jesus died in vain.
