Yesterday, we learned that the days in Genesis chapter one are literal twenty-four-hour days. So when God created Adam and Eve, the universe was only six days old. But can we know how long ago that was?
Well, yes we can! See, Genesis five and eleven give us genealogies from Adam … to Noah … to Abraham. And this list tells us how old each man was when he fathered his son. We can add up these ages and get about two thousand years from Adam to Abraham.
We also know Abraham lived two thousand years before Christ, and Jesus lived on earth two thousand years ago. This information gives us an age of around six thousand years.
