Nowhere does the Bible give us an exact age of the earth. And that’s a good thing! It’d be out of date each year!

But that doesn’t mean we can’t determine that the Bible, a book of history, gives us the information we need.

Genesis One tells us God created in six days. Exodus 20 re-emphasizes that these were regular, 24-hour days. And Genesis provides detailed chronologies, allowing us to easily see there were 2,000 years of history between Adam and Abraham.

And we know Abraham lived 2,000 years before Christ, and we live 2,000 years afterward. So: just 6,000 years of history! That’s the age of the earth.
