Did Darwin Convert?

Occasionally I’ll have Christians ask me about Darwin’s supposed “deathbed conversion.” They wonder why I don’t mention this in my public talks. Well, there’s a simple reason: it’s just an urban legend!

There’s no reputable source for this idea that Darwin recanted on his deathbed. Though we hope he repented and trusted Christ before his death, we have no credible evidence that he did. So this would be a bad argument to use.

Now, whether or not Darwin recanted his evolutionary ideas doesn’t ultimately matter anyway. God’s Word is true, regardless of what any man believes or doesn’t believe. Darwin’s ideas will come and go, but the Word of the Lord, it stands forever.
