Today is a day set aside to celebrate Christ’s birth in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. Now, Jesus probably wasn’t born on December 25, but his Incarnation—when God became man—is certainly worth focusing on and celebrating.
Christmas traditions are fun—and can bring us together as families and communities. But Jesus should be central to our celebrations. Why? Well, it is because Jesus came as the perfect God-man so that we can be saved. He willingly chose to come to earth as a descendant of Adam to die in our place, taking our penalty of death. We deserve death because of our sin, but he died that we might have life!
That is the good news!
