Many in the church today are trying to reinterpret God’s Word to accept so-called gay “marriage.” You may hear some Christian leaders claim that archaeology shows the New Testament only condemns abusive gay relationships, not loving, committed ones.

But this means that for 2,000 years Christians have misunderstood what the Bible says about marriage and sexuality. It means Scripture is not clear, and we can only understand it now that we have archaeology to help us. This subjects God’s Word to a higher authority—archaeology and man’s ideas. It’s no longer the authority—sinful human beings are!

We need to take God at his Word and shape our thinking.
