Today is Thanksgiving Day here in America. I am especially thankful for salvation.
Now, all this week we have been looking at reasons we should be thankful that God created us, and we didn’t evolve. How does salvation tie into this?
Well, if God had used evolution, we would be descended from an ape-like ancestor. We wouldn’t all be related through a literal Adam. But Jesus came as the Last Adam, a descendent of Adam himself, to redeem Adam’s descendants from sin and death. It is only because we are descendants of Adam—and share in his sin—that we are able to be saved by the Last Adam.
The gospel is true because there is a First and Last Adam.
