God’s Word—the Authority in Our Churches

How do we make sure God’s Word is the authority in our churches?

Number one: Bible-based preaching. Scripture commands pastors to accurately handle God’s Word. Emotional messages that make people feel good don’t accomplish anything. We need to teach what the Bible says, even if it clashes with the culture.

Two: Teach the whole Bible. Don’t just stick to the New Testament! Dive into the Old Testament and show those who are under your influence that the Bible’s history explains what we see in the world. And how it points toward our Savior, Jesus.

Three: Address current social issues like abortion or so-called gay “marriage” with an open Bible. Look to God’s Word for answers.
