Does Earth-like Mean Life?

Whenever a new planet is discovered orbiting a distant star, there is a great deal of excitement. Yes, the variety in God’s creation is incredible! But if the new planet is thought to be earth-like, researchers and the media quickly declare it might hold life. Now why is this?

Well, in an evolutionary view earth can’t be special. In the billions of years since the universe began, life simply must have evolved somewhere else too. So, any planet that is even slightly like earth -- or perhaps has water—becomes a primary candidate for evolution to occur on that planet too.

But, when we start with God’s Word, we know it was only earth that was formed to be inhabited.
