Scientists are now able to edit genes. Using special tools, they can cut out sections of our DNA and insert new ones. This has potential to help cure genetic diseases.
But it also has a more dangerous side. Will scientists try to improve mankind with genetic enhancements? What about designer babies? Where do you draw the line?
In an evolutionary worldview, we are just animals and this editing could be the next step in our evolutionary progress. But in a biblical view, we are made in the image of God and knit together in the womb. Humans have unique dignity because of our position as image bearers. We don’t have the authority to mess with God’s design to create what we think is better.
