The Bible and Suicide

Over half of Americans favor physician-assisted suicide. This is the idea that doctors can provide life-ending measures at the request of a patient.

So, how should Christians feel about this practice?

Well the Bible describes God as the sovereign Lord over both life and death. Our life is in God’s hands, not our own. And we don’t have the authority to decide when a life—including our own—should end.

Taking a life as a doctor is murder. And the Bible is clear on that subject—“do not murder.”

Physician-assisted suicide laws are passed under the guise of compassion. But they are nothing short of legalized murder. Christians must defend the sanctity of life … and stand against laws that end lives.
