Did you know that Jesus believed the Old Testament was literal history? He often quoted from it to support what He was saying. For example, when asked about marriage, He quoted from Genesis about the creation of man and woman. He knew it was real history!
Now, the Apostle Paul tells us that the history of the Old Testament was written for our instruction. So don’t neglect it!
Why are we talking about this at Christmas? Well, the Old Testament beginning in Genesis provides the foundation for Christ’s work. Jesus was the promised Messiah who would come to redeem fallen humanity.
This Christmas, take time to look back at the Old Testament and rejoice in seeing how God’s redemptive plan was revealed in history.
