Some people think the first two chapters of the Bible contradict one another. They claim Genesis chapter 1 records the animals being created before people. But in Genesis 2, they say, animals are created after Adam and Eve?

Well, both are right.

You see, this is just an example of a supposed contradiction that is easily resolved. When the Bible was translated into English, some translations, such as the King James, chose to say, “The Lord God formed every beast of the field.”

But other translations, including one older than the KJV, translate this as “had formed.” In Hebrew, this is correct.

So the two chapters don’t contradict each other. Both say God formed animals first, then Adam and Eve.
