Transcript

Many pastors and other Christians don’t think that believing in Genesis as literal history is important. But they don’t understand that the gospel is actually grounded in the history of Genesis.

As we learned yesterday, the history of Genesis explains why we need salvation. We are sinners because of Adam’s actions. If life evolved over millions of years, then why is physical death the penalty for sin? Death would have already existed for millions of years! Yet Jesus came, physically died—and physically rose again—to pay for our sin.

If death isn’t the penalty for sin, why did Jesus have to die? The gospel falls apart without Genesis.

We need to get back to God’s Word and start our thinking there!
