Today is Columbus Day here in America. It is a holiday to commemorate the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492. But did you know North America was discovered long before Columbus?

After the Tower of Babel, about 4,000 years ago, people spread out around the world. Lower sea levels, caused by the Ice Age, likely allowed some people to walk from what is now Russia to North America. These people would later be known as Native Americans.

Evidence even suggests that peoples like the Romans, Chinese, and Vikings visited America well before Columbus!

On this Columbus Day, take time to remember we are all descendants of Adam and Eve, scattered at the Tower of Babel.
