Almost all of the world’s opals are found in my home country of Australia.

Now, opals don’t take millions of years to form—they can form very quickly. Actually, in the lab they can be produced in a matter of weeks, and this man-made opal is almost indistinguishable from the one in nature.

In nature, opals only form under very specific conditions. That is why they are pretty much only found in Australia. But Noah’s Flood produced just the right conditions to allow opals to form.

Gems like opals should remind us that God can make something beautiful out of anything—even His judgment on the world. And remember, He makes sinners beautiful through His Son.
