Often unborn babies are called “just a clump of cells”—or “part of the mother’s body.” But from the moment of conception, when the egg and the sperm unite, a genetically unique person is present. And the growth of this little person is amazing!

By just four weeks, the tiny heart is beating. By the second month, the brain and spinal cord are well formed—and the digestive system is beginning to develop. A month later the baby can open and close its mouth and make tiny fists. Fingernails, toenails, and even fingerprints are forming. By the end of this month, the baby is fully formed and just needs to mature.

Yes, a baby is a human being right from the start, carefully knit together by the Creator.
