Illustrations of the Ark usually include animals we would see today, like lions, tigers, and horses. But what did the animals on the Ark actually look like?

Well, Genesis says God created animals to reproduce according to their “kind.” Now that is not the same thing as species. According to research, it is usually at the “family level” in modern classification. So Noah didn’t have to take two lions and two tigers onto the Ark. He only had to take two of every kind. So two of the cat kind, two of the dog kind, two of the horse kind—only about 2,000 different kinds.

God created every kind with incredible variety in their DNA.
