Adapting ABC for Homeschool

But how should you do it? Well, there are two different ways, so consider which one will work best for your schedule, the ages of your children, and what you are seeking to accomplish by using ABC.

Method 1: Cover one lesson a week. This allows you to go through ABC like a church would, over four years. But there’s flexibility within this method:

• Do one lesson all in one day, once a week.
• Spread the lesson out by doing some of the teaching and an activity each day.
• Do the entire lesson in one day and then space the complimentary activities out throughout the week.

One lesson, including content and activities that help cement the lesson, takes approximately one to two hours.

Note: With this method, you won’t be able to use the same age-group lessons over those four years. But ABC is synchronized across ages: you can simply purchase the next age up and start with the next lesson. It’s very simple!

Method 2: Cover one lesson each day, completing the curriculum in just one school year. ABC 2nd edition contains 200 lessons. Of those, twenty are review. If you skip those lessons, you have 180 left, which is the same as the number of days in a school year.
