It’s Miraculous!

HOW?!

After I speak at the Ark Encounter or Creation Museum, I usually host a meet and greet to engage with attendees. And almost every time, at least one person asks me something like, “How did all of this—the Ark and Creation Museum—come about? It’s all just so amazing to see such world-class attractions that are overtly Christian and evangelistic.”

It’s great that people ask me this, but I sort of groan inside a bit—not because it’s a bad question, but because the answer involves such a complex story, there’s no way of summarizing it in the couple of minutes available during a meet-and-greet session.

The story of how Answers in Genesis and its attractions came about is really a long, complex account of stepping out in faith. It includes what we call “Red Sea events,” valleys, mountaintop experiences, battles, and victories. When I look back on the history of this ministry, I see how God miraculously brought along people and events that weave together to form such a complex pattern that is just not explainable from a human perspective.

I do want to share all that God has done, however, so I took the time to produce a 250+ page book with lots of photos and behind-the-scenes details. It also includes testimonies from the other two founders (Mark Looy and Mike Zovath), as well as others. It really is an amazing story. I read the manuscript a number of times before it was sent to print, and every time, I just reacted in awe of what God has done. That’s why the book title is Miraculous! The book starts at my birth in Australia and continues until the present. What a history it is! It reminds me of reading about the Israelites conquering the promised land, fighting battles, facing giants, and so much more. In the book, I tell readers:

You see, as you read this very involved story, it’s really a love story. It’s a story about two people [myself and my sweetheart wife, Mally] who love God with all their hearts, who love God’s Word, who have a love for people to hear God’s Word and the saving gospel, who love each other deeply, and who love to do all they can to help raise up younger generations who will stand boldly for the Lord.

And in the introduction, I state:

As you read the story of this unique ministry and watch it grow from humble roots in Australia to what it is today, there’s a theme you’ll see highlighted again and again: God’s miraculous provision of resources and people at just the right moments. Even though there are certainly humans involved in the story— thousands of individual humans in big and small ways—it’s really the account of God’s faithfulness. We could never have done this without His miraculous hand. And that’s why I’ve always said AiG is not my ministry—it’s God’s ministry. He’s the one who sovereignly built it, and He’s the one who gets all the glory for what He’s done through it.

P.S. By the way, for the audio version, I narrated most of the book myself, but I had Mally, Mike, Mark, and others narrate their sections. I also made some summary statements at the end of each chapter. It’s a really unique audiobook that I think you’ll enjoy.
